Perun and Weles
In the beginning only light, sea and God Swiatowid existed. But God Swiatowid became lonely.
Switowid saw his shadow in the sea and he decided that he will separate the shadow and the body of the shadow. In that way Gods Swarog and Weles formed.
Swarog lived in a boat from light on the sea while Weles lived underwater in the darkness. The Gods got bored of the sea. Swarog persuated Weles to dive to the bottom of the ocean and get some sand. Weles had to say magical words “With My and Swarogs power”. He did it on the third try. Weles took the sand in his hand but also put some grains of sand into his mouth as he wanted some land for himsef.
After Weles surfaced took his hand out to Sworog and gave him the sand. Swarog took a few sand seeds and threw them on the water. The seeds instantly changed into dry land and started growing. The grains of sand in Weleses mouth were also growing so he was forced to spitt them out. Where he spitt them out the mountains started to grow. A small island formed and the both Gods didn’t have enaugh space for themselves. Selfish Weles decided he wanted to have the whole world to himself so he tried to take Sworog to the sea and drown him. When Sworog fell asleep Weles tried to carry him to the sea but every step the sea was getting farer away from the coast. Finally he gave up.
When Swarog woke up, he noticed that the land expanded. Weles happily told Sworog that the land keeps on expanding. In the beginnig both of them were satisfied, but after some time Sworog was beginnig to be concerned. He told Weles his concerns but he would not listen and just laughed. Swarog suspected that Weles had a secret and so he made a bee wich was to spy on Weles.
Weles made a goat out of sea waves.The bee sat on Weles shoulder while he talked with a goat. Weles was laughing at stupid Swarog who could not stop the earth growing. He said that all you had to do is take a stick and set the four sides of the world, north, east, south and west.
When the bee returned to Swarog, he made from the sea waves a stick and set four sides of the world and said, “It is enough for Earth”. The land stopped growing and become as it is now. The Gods started fighting who will be the lord of the Earth. Swiatowid had enough. He called Swaorg and Weles to him and said that Swarog will be the lord of the land and Weles will be the lord of underground. Weles got as well Navia, land where God fed with grass the souls of dead people. Swarog was the God of fire, sun and earth.
In other way we can say that Weles was the devil, and Swarog the was the God. The myth is called Perun and Weles as Sworog is sometimes called Perun. There are not many creation myths in Central Europe because when Catholicism came people had to believe the Genesis story. Many myths were forgotten and lost.
